How to Add or List BSC BEP20 Tokens in The Metamask Wallet(Part3)

What is a cryptocurrency?

A cryptocurrency is a virtual currency designed to function as a medium of exchange. It is characterized by:

  • They have their own blockchain protocol, with bitcoin (BTC) being the first, most recognized and with the largest market, after Ethereum's Ether (ETH) and the third by market is Binance's BNB.

  • They use encryption techniques to perform transactions and store data.

  • Transactions are irreversible: payment made, not canceled.

What is a BEP 20 Token?

A BEP-20 token is a smart contract deployed on the BSC blockchain, which has a preset data structure that enables a variety of mathematical functions. Two basic functions are:

  • Mint Function: creates a full supply of coins in the account or address of the owner or creator of the contract.

  • Send function: sends or transfers a certain number of tokens to other accounts or addresses.

How to add BEP 20 tokens to Metamask wallet:

First example:

We are going to add a BEP20 token known as ETH Token from the BSC network (it is a representation of Ethereum's ETH):

Step 1: We click on import tokens.

Step 2: We select the Binance Ethereum BEP 20 token from Binance in the testnet (ETH Token). Each token built through a Smart Contract, so we look for the address:

ETH Token Address Contract testnet:

0x8BaBbB98678facC7342735486C851ABD7A0d17Ca

We will explain later how to get the address of each BEP20 token from BSC.

Step 3: In the Metamask wallet:

  • We paste the Address of the Smart Contract that creates the Ethereum token in first image. Then the ETH symbol appears, the eighteen decimals, then we click on add token.

  • In the third image, the wallet shows a balance of 0.5 BNB and 0 ETH.

Step 4: Clicking on ETH, the second screen appears where the wallet is ready to send and exchange the ETH.

Second example:

We will add the BEP 20 or Binance Stablecoin (BUSD) token, with testnet Contract Address: 0x78867BbEeF44f2326bF8DDd1941a4439382EF2A7

Step 1: We click on import tokens.

Step 2: We go back to the wallet and:

  • We copy the Contract Address, then the BUSD symbol and the eighteen decimal places appear, then we click on Add Custom Token.

  • In the second image to add tokens, the symbol BUSD appears, with a balance of 0 BUSD and then we click on Import Token.

  • In the third image the wallet is ready to send and exchange the BUSD.

Final status in the main view of the wallet:

We can make three types of transactions: Buy, send and exchange the cryptocurrencies added to the wallet.

In the assets, the registered cryptocurrencies appear with their balance:

  • 0.5 BNB.

  • 0 ETH.

  • 0 BUSD.
